Spiders did web design first. We just brought it online.

Spiders have been spinning webs for over 100 million years. We design and build websites for small businesses that catch attention and hold on to it.

Meet the founder

Small studio, sharp instincts

CarisFounder & designer, spydrhaus

Hi, I'm Caris.

I've spent seven years as a UX designer, working out how people actually use websites and what makes them stay, click and buy. I started spydrhaus to give small businesses that same level of thinking, without the big agency price or the template look.

When you work with spydrhaus, you work with me from the first chat to launch day. No handoffs and no account managers. I learn your brand, design around your customers, and build something that feels completely like you.

FAQ

Questions, untangled

The things small businesses ask us most. Can't see yours? Send us a message.

How much does a website cost?

Sites start from £250. Our packages are Thread from £250, Web from £650 and Haus from £1,200, depending on the pages and features you need. Use the instant quote to get a price for your project in under a minute.

How long does it take?

Most sites take around 2 to 4 weeks from our first chat to going live. If you're in a hurry, a rush timeline gets you live in about a week for an extra 20%.

Do you use templates?

Never. Every design is completely custom to your brand, its look and feel, and your vision.

I already have a website or hosting. Can you work with it?

Yes. We can design and build your new site or pages into the hosting or platform you already use, including Shopify, so there's nothing new for you to manage.

I don't have a domain or hosting yet. Is that a problem?

Not at all. We'll set up your domain and hosting for you and launch the site from scratch.

How does payment work?

You pay half to start and half at launch. Our first 5 clients also get 10% off in return for an honest testimonial once their site is live.

What do you need from me?

A chat about your business, your customers and what you want the site to do, plus your logo, photos and any words you already have. If you need help with the words, copywriting can be added to your quote.

Can I ask for changes?

Yes. You'll see the designs early and give feedback at every stage, and nothing goes live until you give the green light.

Will my site work on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed for mobile and desktop and tested on both before launch.

Will people be able to find my site on Google?

Every site is built with SEO basics: clear page titles and descriptions, and a structure search engines can read.

What happens after launch?

We stay on hand for fixes and updates, whether that's new pages, content changes or something that needs a tweak.

Mind of Akira

"Building visuals that feel lived-in."

The brief

Give Akira, a graphic designer working in streetwear, gaming and music, one place to show the work and take on commissions.

The vibe

Loud, confident and culture-driven. Big uppercase headings, ✦ separators and a casual voice that sounds like Akira.

What's on the site

  • "The Archive": six projects including Adamo Gaming, Y2K Logo & Icons, a Nike typeface rebrand and Logofolio Vol.2
  • Services for logo design, brand identity, apparel, cover art, type and streaming graphics
  • An About section split into "The Day Job" and "Real Life", with project and years-active stats
  • An "Available for projects" badge and a "Let's Build." contact section linking to Behance

Our role

Everything from first questions to launch, with Akira involved at every step. No templates: the design is completely custom to Akira’s brand, look and feel, and vision.

  1. Discovery. A questionnaire to gather Akira’s details and what the site needed to do.
  2. Vibe check. Sessions with Akira to pin down the feel, then a moodboard they signed off.
  3. Behance as the source. Akira’s existing Behance shaped the brand direction and supplied the projects for the archive.
  4. Sketches to wireframes. Rough sketches, then low fidelity layouts to get the structure right.
  5. High fidelity design. The full look designed in Figma, section by section.
  6. Build and launch. Akira had no hosting or domain, so we set both up, coded the designs and took the site live at mindofakira.com.

Bearlo

"Big personalities. Little people. One family."

The brief

A shop for a UK family brand selling matching outfits for kids (2T to 5T) and grown ups (S to L), designed by a mum and her child.

The vibe

Warm and playful. A cream palette, hand-drawn stickers of bears, stars, cherries and rainbows, and lifestyle photos of the family.

What's in the store

  • Collections for New In, Minis, Grown Ups and Bags & Bits
  • "The latest drop" product grid and a "Twinning season" section for matching sets
  • A "Why Bearlo" brand story: soft, breathable, less but better, and every print an original
  • Size guide, FAQ, free UK delivery over £75 and an email signup for new drops

Our role

Everything from first questions to launch, with the owner involved at every step. No templates: the design is completely custom to Bearlo’s brand, look and feel, and vision.

  1. Discovery. A questionnaire to gather the brand details and what the shop needed to do.
  2. Vibe check. Sessions with the owner to pin down the feel, then a moodboard she signed off.
  3. Brand colours. Bearlo already had a logo, so we built the colour palette from it.
  4. Sketches to wireframes. Rough sketches, then low fidelity layouts to get the structure right.
  5. High fidelity design. The full look designed in Figma, page by page.
  6. Build and integrate. The designs coded up and built into their existing Shopify store, so they never had to switch hosts.
